Peter started out making music videos after finishing film school at Pratt in Brooklyn. Those early projects caught the eye of outlets like MTV, Pitchfork, The New York Times, and Entertainment Weekly, and pretty quickly opened doors into the world of commercials and branded films. Since then, he’s been tapped to create work for brands like Adidas, American Express, Tommy Hilfiger, and the NBA, and he’s circled the globe a few times directing documentaries, lifestyle films, and splashy Apple product launch pieces. One of his first big breaks overseas came when he helped AXE launch in China with a series of shorts starring Edison Chen. And along the way, he even teamed up with Spike Jonze on the Beastie Boys’ final video, Don’t Play No Games That I Can’t Win.
Peter directed MTV/AXE’s THE GAMEKILLERS, a hybrid comedy series that picked up Cannes Lions and One Show awards. More recently, he’s been writing and directing his own short films, The Grey Matter (a cult horror comedy starring Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Therefore I Am (a lo-fi sci-fi), Progress Bar (an AI-co-written oddity), and Fun, Gus! (a sci-fi comedy that premiered at FilmQuest, one of MovieMaker’s “25 Coolest Festivals”). His shorts have screened all over the world and popped up on Shudder, DUST, ALTER, Short of the Week, io9, Vimeo Staff Picks, and more. The Grey Matter alone has racked up over 17 million views online.
Outside of film, Peter almost always has a camera slung over his shoulder. Apple has hired him not just to direct, but also to shoot photography, and his stills have been featured by Apple, NFL Network, Leica, and NBC.
He’s also directed episodes of Apple TV’s docu-series Dear…, produced by RJ Cutler, which takes a fresh, cinematic approach to telling the stories of iconic cultural figures through letters written by their fans.
Over the years, Peter’s client list has included RCA, Capitol, Warner, LG, McDonald’s, Pepsi, Ray-Ban, Ralph Lauren, Grey Goose, ESPN, MTV, VH1, NFL Network, Listerine, EA Sports, West Elm, LL Bean, Unilever, & Apple TV.
He’s now based in Los Angeles, developing new feature film and television projects.
